Jayhawks hit roadblock in first half against VCU

According to Internet Media:   The Kansas Jayhawks’ stroll through the park in the NCAA Tournament may have just hit a roadblock.

Kansas, a No. 1 seed that won its first three games of the tournament easily against Boston University, Illinois and Richmond, finds itself trailing Virginia Commonwealth 41-27 at halftime of Sunday’s Southwest Regional final in San Antonio.

Kansas shot only 32.3 percent from the field and 16.7 percent of the 3-point line in the first half. VCU shot 40 percent from the field and an amazing 52.9 percent (9 of 17) from beyond the arc in the first half.

Forward Jamie Skeen led the Rams with 15 points in the first half, while guard Brandon Rozzell hit four treys for 12 points off the bench.

Forward Macus Morris led the Jayhawks with 11 points in the first half. KU’s bench was limited to two points from freshman Josh Selby.

A strong Kansas rally that opened the second half cut the 14-point deficit to as little as two, 46-44, but VCU regained the momentum and maintained a 10-point lead with 8:50 remaining.
