According to Internet Media:   Pune Warriors has announced the team for the IPL 2011 season. The fouth edition of the Indian Premiere League will start from April 8, 2011. The Warriors play their first match against the Kings XI Punjab at Navi Mumbai on April 10, 2011. Subrata Roy of Sahara Group is the owner of the Pune IPL team

Pune is one of the newer teams in the competition and as expected, went for Indian player Yuvraj Singh for a sum of $1.8 million. See the complete squad of Pune Warriors.

Yuvraj may not have been in the best of form, but he is a good asset as a batsman-cum-spinner and if he is asked to lead the side, so much better!
Amongst others, there is Graeme Smith ($500,000) but the biggest package went to Robin Uthappa who was bought for a sum of $2.1 million.

In getting both Tim Paine ($270,000) and Angelo Matthews ($950,000) the Pune team has shown great acumen while some of the rest are Ashish Nehra, Nathan McCullum, Callum Ferguson and Wayne Parnell ($160,000).
Interestingly, Mitchell Marsh ($290,000) will be on the team which is coached by his father, Geoff Marsh.

Vettori to lead Bangalore in IPL 2011

According to Internet Media:   Daniel Vettori who led New Zealand in the 2011 World Cup, has been named the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2011. Vettori, who was in the Delhi Daredevils line-up for the first three seasons, takes over from Anil Kumble, who has retired from the game, but will mentor the Bangalore team this year. Ray Jennings will continue to be the side's coach.

"Vettori is a hugely respected professional not only within his team but among his international peers as well," Kumble was quoted in the team's website. "His unique ability to get players to perform as a unit and deliver more than just the sum of their parts, as he has done time and again with New Zealand, will be a big asset to any team."
