According to Internet Media: THE SUBJECT was Opening Day and how it is different in Cincinnati, much ado about everything.
And Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker was the perfect guy to put it into perfect perspective.
“They actually have a parade here before the season and I’ve never seen that anywhere else,” said Baker, referring to the 92nd Findlay Market parade held Thursday morning.
“I was talking to Edgar Renteria and Miguel Cairo a little bit ago and I tol them, ‘We’re just hoping we have two parades, the second one after the season (if the Reds win the World Series).’”
That’s a big ol’ amen right there.
FROM a spot behind hands covering giggling faces, the Reds suddenly are a team with lofty expectations and nobody is making fun of them these days.
And that suits Baker and general manager Walt Jocketty just fine.
“Over my career as a player and a manager and Walt’s career as a general manager, we sort of grew accustomed to being in this position, something you expect to be in,” said Baker.
