Earthquake Hits Myanmar

According to Internet Media:
 A strong earthquake has struck northeast Burma, near its border with Thailand.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at magnitude 6.8 and said it hit Thursday evening, local time, about 89 kilometers north of the Thai city of Chiang Rai.

Buildings swayed as far away as Bangkok, 770 kilometers to the south. So far, no damage reports have come in from the sparsely area around the epicenter.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says the quake was too deep and too far inland to generate a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
